The Fukuoka Labor Bureau revealed it has already received more than 200 inquiries from companies planning to furlough employees or delay hiring of new graduates after the Tohoku earthquake. About 130 of those inquiries came from Fukuoka Prefecture companies with branches in the Tohoku region, and 80% of those regarded the procedures for paying allowances to furloughed employees. Some people who lost their homes in the earthquake and are staying in Fukuoka have also asked about unemployment benefits.
