TOTO Sees Profit Hit From Middle East Tensions

TOTO said Middle East tensions are expected to reduce its operating profit by about JPY 7 billion due to worsening supply conditions for petroleum-based materials such as naphtha. Speaking at a financial results briefing on April 30, President Noriaki Tamura cited uncertainty in raw material procurement, which led the company to temporarily suspend orders for some products, including unit bathrooms, earlier this month. The company also expects rising costs for resin used in products such as Washlets. Meanwhile, Kyushu Electric Power reported a 20 percent increase in net profit to JPY 154.5 billion for fiscal 2025, supported by lower fuel costs despite reduced sales due to a warm winter. The utility said its diversified energy mix limits direct impact from Middle East developments. Source: KBC News / Yomiuri Shimbun
