Saga will host part of the Tour de Kyushu international cycling race for the first time this October. The four-day event runs from Oct. 9 to 12 across Saga, Nagasaki, Fukuoka, Oita, Kumamoto and Miyazaki. On Oct. 10, the Saga–Fukuoka stage will start at Hado Cape and finish in central Fukuoka’s Tenjin district. Major traffic restrictions are planned around Tenjin from morning through the afternoon that day. Last year’s race drew approximately 106,500 spectators and generated an estimated 2.8 billion yen in economic activity, according to a Development Bank of Japan study. Source: NHK News / Karatsu City
