Since the popular former comedian Hideo Higashikokubaru was elected governor of Miyazaki Prefecture, more than 400,000 people have come to visit the prefectural offices. This is equivalent to the number of people who visit the famous tourist destinations in the prefecture. Often, as many as 1,000 people come in a single day hoping for a glimpse of the governor. The highest daily figure was last August 14, when 5,550 came.
