Toyota Kyushu Plans Full Renewable Power at Kokura Factory

Toyota Kyushu is gearing up to convert its Kokura factory’s entire power consumption to renewable energy. Starting in September, the plant will implement a system that uses solar power, hydrogen fuel cells, and batteries. The plant, which produces hybrid vehicle components and consumes 5,000 to 6,000 kWh, will cover 10 kWh of its consumption with renewable sources. The innovative system was developed by Fukuoka City’s startup, Aakel Technologies, and includes detailed forecasting to manage the energy needs. This move aims to make the Kokura factory a model for decarbonization, with plans to expand the initiative from 2024 onward. Source: Nikkei
