As a result of a review of 142 auto production plants worldwide, the global marketing information services firm J.D. Power and Associates has given the Toyota Kyushu #2 line in Miyawaka, Fukuoka Prefecture, its Platinum Plant Quality Award for producing models with the fewest defects and malfunctions. Design-related problems are not part of the criteria. The Toyota Kyushu plant, which manufactures the Lexus, finished in a three-way tie with a Toyota plant in Canada and a Honda plant in the U.S.
