The number of units produced last year at Toyota Motors Kyushu in Miyawaka, Fukuoka Prefecture, totaled roughly 270,900 units, a year-on-year decline of 19.8%, it was learned. This was attributed to slumping sales in the North American market and the five-day shutdown of operations caused by the difficulty in procuring parts from the areas affected by the Tohoku earthquake. The level of production was lower than even the roughly 271,000 units produced in 2008 during the global financial downturn.
