Toyota Kyushu announced an indefinite delay in the rehiring of 500 of the 800 seconded employees whose contracts it had cancelled due to production cutbacks resulting from the current financial climate. The reasons cited were the sharp declines in the American market, the destination of most of Toyota Kyushu’s exports, and the deterioration in financial markets worldwide.
