Toyota Motors announced it would shift production of its Highlander sports utility vehicle from its Fukuoka Prefecture plant to a factory in the United States in the second half of 2013. The Fukuoka plant produced about 30,000 units of the vehicle in 2011. The objective is to add greater efficiency to production with the yen at record highs against the dollar.
