Fundodai Goyo, a soy sauce brewer in Kumamoto City, invented a “transparent” soy sauce which is enjoying brisk sales since its debut in Feb. 2019. Unlike the traditional black liquid, the company’s new soy sauce, Tomei Shoyu, has no color. Fundodai aimed to mark its 150 year history with a new product that will be remembered for a long time. The sauce’s rich aroma suits a wide variety of cuisines without changing the color of the original ingredients. Over 40,000 bottles have been sold so far.
