Two Japanese Memories Join Unesco’s Memory of the World Programme

UNESCO announced on Oct. 30th that it will be registering Takasaki City’s Yamanoue, Tago, and Kanaizawa stelae as the Three Stelae of Kozuke Province to its Memory of the World Programme. Similarly, records that detail diplomatic Korean missions to twelve prefectures during the Edo Period will be registered as the Records of the Joseon Missions to Japan. These two additions will join five other registered memories from Japan; however, the Sugihara List, which are materials affiliated to Chiune Sugihara who saved numerous Jews during WWII, will not join the registry at this time.
