Fukuoka City opened two new underground parking areas for bicycles near Hakata Station. The lots will connect directly from the basement floor of Hakata Station Chikushi-guchi Exit, the Hakata Station Chikushi-guchi Bicycle Parking and the Miyako Hotel Hakata Bicycle Parking. The lots will hold approximately 600 bicycles in total. The city will discontinue some of the outside parking areas in order to create wider passageways ahead of the games of Rugby World Cup 2019.
