Ureshino City in Saga Prefecture has initiated a pilot program to test autonomous electric buses. The buses will operate on a 2-km route between a Shinkansen station and a tourist area at 18 km/h. The initiative is the first of its kind in the prefecture and will include a public trial from October 5-9. The bus is equipped with a remote monitoring system and can partially control acceleration, braking, and steering.
