A Tokyo-based venture company involved in clinical trials of a vaccine for the new coronavirus will establish a vaccine manufacturing base in the Kurume Research Park in Kurume City. According to Fukuoka Prefecture and Kurume City, the company is VLP Therapeutics Japan, a Tokyo-based drug discovery venture. Using its proprietary technology, the company is working to develop vaccines to prevent new coronaviruses and malaria, as well as vaccines to treat cancer and other diseases. The manufacturing base will be established in the Kurume Research Park by the year after next to promote the rapid development of domestically produced vaccines that the government is promoting.
