Voter Turnout in Fukuoka Prefecture Drops

Fukuoka Prefecture’s Election Management Committee announced that the voter turnout in 11 local districts for the recent House of Representatives election was confirmed at 51.59%, a slight decrease of 0.53 percentage points from the previous election three years ago.

This marks a continuation of the gradual decline in voter turnout since a peak of 68.77% in 2009. Turnout dropped below 50% for the first time in 2014, setting a record low of 48.81%. However, both the 2017 and the previous election saw over 50% participation, though numbers have remained lower compared to earlier years. Source: NHK
