Wheelchair Tennis Returns to Iizuka

The “Iizuka International Wheelchair Tennis Tournament,” where top wheelchair tennis players compete, is set to be held for the first time in four years. The annual “Iizuka International Wheelchair Tennis Tournament” held in Iizuka City in spring is the only Super Series event in Asia, following the world’s four major tournaments, with top players from around the world participating. The event had been canceled due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, but the organizing body announced on the 11th that they have decided to hold the event for the first time in four years. According to the announcement, this year’s tournament will take place from April 18th to 23rd at the “Iizuka Sports Resort Tennis Court” and “Prefectural Chikuho Greenery Tennis Court” located in the city. A total of 80 players from 16 countries and regions have entered the tournament, including world No. 2 men’s singles player Tokito Oda and world No. 2 women’s singles player Yui Kamiji.
