“Kyushu Murakore Ichiba”, an online mail-order site for farmers in Kyushu, is currently hunting for Kyushu’s top young, handsome farmer in a contest titled “Kyushu Mura Boys Collection 2014”. The eight pre-selected farmers in the running vary in age from 26 to 34 years old and come from four prefectures of Kyushu including Fukuoka and Miyazaki. A special website created for the contest is updated daily, including posts about the eight contestants’ feelings towards agriculture and farming – expressing their unique personalities and characters. Photos, profiles, and each farmer’s introductory catch phrases are posted on the company’s Facebook account, where anyone can vote for their favorite farmer. Voting for “Kyushu Mura Boys Collection 2014” runs until Apr. 19 and results will be released on Apr. 30.The top three contestants will be rewarded with promotional pages on “Murakore Ichiba” introducing their agricultural products.
