The Blue Impulse, Japan’s acrobatic flight team, performed a rehearsal in the skies over Fukuoka City on the 13th, adding a dramatic touch to the proceedings leading up to the opening ceremony on the 14th.
The team’s planned flight path on the 14th will begin at 2 PM from the eastern side of Fukuoka City, passing by Marine Messe Fukuoka. Then, the flight path leads them around the area of JR Hakata Station, heading towards Seaside Momochi. Lastly, they will fly once again over Marine Messe Fukuoka, sketching a pattern of six cherry blossom petals in the sky.
The opening ceremony is scheduled to start at 8 PM and will take place at the Fukuoka City Boat Race Fukuoka. An enchanting fountain show will be held in areas accessible to the general public, both before and after the ceremony.
On the first day, artistic swimmer Yukiko Inui aims to capture another win following her previous victory in Budapest. She expressed her desire to deliver a great performance as the lead-off competitor to help establish a positive momentum for the Japanese team.
Stars from around the world are also excited to participate. The Australian team, currently training in Saga City, shares the excitement. Swimmer Wilson of Australia referred to the Fukuoka World Aquatics Championship as a place where dreams come true. World record holder for the 200m breaststroke, Stubblety-Cook, already in competitive mode, stated he’s thrilled about the event.
