Unicharm Corporation announced the expansion of its Kagoshima-based diaper recycling project into the next decade. Since 2016, the company has conducted public trials to collect and recycle used paper diapers in a few cities in Kagoshima Prefecture. Tests will be expanded nationwide as the company launches ten or more factories by 2030. While the development of diaper-to-diaper recycling processes requires considerable costs, Unicharm is eager to lead the field, reflecting on the raised environmental awareness amongst customers and investors.
