Yamato Holdings and Japan Airlines plan to end domestic dedicated freighter operations around June 2027. The network includes flights from Kitakyushu Airport to Narita, Naha and New Chitose. The service began in April 2024 in response to tighter limits on truck-driver working hours and helped Kitakyushu Airport set cargo-volume records for two consecutive years. The companies said the weak yen and higher fuel prices widened the cost gap between air freight and trucking.
