Two producers of quality Yame tea visited Fukuoka Prefecture, Governor Hiroshi Ogawa. The farmers won a regional tea competition in May for their gyokuro (Akio & Akiko Kurihara) and sencha (Tatsuya & Keiko Higuchi) green teas. The long-running competition with a history of over fifty years saw a total of 235 entrants this year. The Governor remarked his intention to collaborate with local producers to expand Yame-tea consumption.
