Yaskawa uses AI robots to build AI robots

Kitakyushu-based Yaskawa Electric is using AI-equipped robots to assemble other AI robots at a new factory that entered full operation in July. Its MOTOMAN NEXT system can plan actions in response to broad instructions rather than relying entirely on preprogrammed movements. In screw-fastening work, autonomous retries have raised the reported success rate from 99% to more than 99.9%. Other applications include using three-dimensional sensors to open bags without damaging their contents. Two AI robots also prepare udon and soba in the company cafeteria.
