A new “yatai village” opened in Kokura’s Kyomachi district in Kitakyushu. Local companies in Kitakyushu have been planning the idea for a long time, and are happy to finally see it come to fruition. The yatai village, called “Kitakyushu Yatai Gai Kokura Jyusan-ku” opened in the 13th ward at 18:00 on Oct. 1. Stall owners come from Kitakyushu, Fukuoka and Shimonoseki, and each of the 13 stalls is around 10 sq.m. The main feature of the yatai village is that customers are permitted and encouraged to order food and drinks from any of the 13 yatai, whilst keeping a seat at one yatai.
