Fukuoka-based Plenus announced it will open a chain of Yayoi-ken restaurants in Taiwan starting in January. The company plans to open 15 of the teishoku (set meal) shops in Taiwan over the next five years. Taiwan will become the sixth country or region that Plenus has entered. According to a company official, it chose Taiwan because “a large percentage of people eat out, and they are friendly toward Japan.” At present, Plenus and its subsidiaries operate restaurants in Thailand, Singapore, Korea, Australia and China, in addition to Japan.
