Fukuoka Canada Day Parties of Past

We’re getting ready for the annual Fukuoka Canada Day party, which is happening in less than a month! You can read all the details about the 2012 party here.

To get in the mood to celebrate, we’ve dug through the archives a little and decided to share some photos from our past Canada Day parties. The event has been running for over 10 years, and never fails to draw a crowd of fun-loving Canadians and friends of Canada. Here are some photos from the past five years….

Fukuoka Canada Day 2007
The 2007 Canada Day party was held at Sam & Dave in Tenjin, and was a night full of all things Canadian! The menu of Canadian food, beer and drinks and some very patriotic Canadian flag decorations helped get the crowd in the mood. Friends and fans of Canada also enjoyed live performances by Canadian musicians and an adorable display of children’s hockey. View the full 2007 gallery here.

Fukuoka Canada Day 2008
July 2008 got off to a rocking start in Fukuoka with the Canada Day Party hosted by Fukuoka Now at Sam & Dave, in Tenjin. The party featured a solid and 100% Canadian music playlist and lots of Canadian beer in a room well covered with Canadian flags. J.C. Bouvier, organizer of the CM World Festival, stopped by and showed a sneak-peak preview of award winning television commercials, including several Canadian ones. By midnight, 275 guests showed up. O Canada! View the full 2008 gallery here.

Fukuoka Canada Day 2009
Flags were flying at Fukuoka Now’s 2009 Canada Day party. The Dark Room was decked out in multitudes of maple leaves and served up tasty Canadian specialities like grilled salmon, poutine and “Barenaked Ladies”. Thankfully for non-Canucks the threatening rainclouds didn’t deliver, and so the rooftop patio was packed until the early hours. View the full 2009 gallery here.

Fukuoka Canada Day Party 2010
On July 16, 2010 we celebrated Canada Day very late, but in style! The evening began with a reservation-only sit down feast of 1/2 P.E.I. live lobster, steak, potatoes, veggies and a started of Canadian mussels. Naturally there was Canadian beer and ice cream with maple syrup. By 8:30 pm there was a line growing outside the restaurant for the Lobster Tail and Canadian Beer set which was just ¥1,000 and a big hit. All evening long Canadian music and videos were played and good time was had by all. Thanks to the event’s sponsor Nitto Shoji, the Canadian Government Trade Office, West Japan, and to the The Three Kings Pub. See the full gallery here.

Fukuoka Canada Day Party 2011
Over 700 friends and fans of Canada who filled the two floors and open terrace of La Boheme Qualita for our 10th annual Fukuoka Now Canada Day Party. The crowd enjoyed Canadian beer, lobster tails, salmon rolls, pancakes with maple syrup, whisky, Canada Dry Ginger Ale and more. View the full 2011 gallery here.
