Louis Dollé is a French contemporary artist who specializes in sculpture. While most of his works take the shape of human figures, one gets the impression that, transcending their physical form, they are meant to convey some fundamental idea, concept or story. Multi-talented as Dollé is (a painter, as well as a sculptor and metal worker) he is constantly experimenting with different materials. Technique, material, exhibition, details – these are all crucial means to transmit the work’s message, and through combining them a complex artistic form is born, inviting empathy and contemplation through pathos. Join the opening party (16:00~20:00) at Gallery Moryta on May 26 (Sun.) and enjoy a performance (18:30~20:00) at the French Institute Kyushu on June 1 (Fri.).
