JR Kyushu To Sell Discounted Rail Pass To Increase Tourism After Recent Earthquakes

From June 1 to July 17, JR Kyushu will offer the “Genki ni! Kyushu Pass” (Cheer up! Kyushu Pass), a discounted one-day pass which can be used for unlimited trips on the Kyushu Shinkansen and other local JR railway lines. The pass is valid only on weekends and national holidays between June 4 and July 18. Through this pass, JR Kyushu aims to increase tourism in Kyushu, which has been faltering since the series of earthquakes that hit the island in mid-April. The pass is ¥13,000 for an adult, and ¥6,500 for a child; it must be purchased at least one day in advance of travel, and is available at the counters of major JR Kyushu stations.
