Robot Bar Now Open Inside Henn-na Hotel

A new, unstaffed bar opened inside the Henn-na Hotel at Huis Ten Bosch (HTB), on Nov. 9. The hotel, which opened in July 2015, uses robots to check-in visitors, carry baggage, and clean the premises. The aim of the facility is to utilize the latest technological developments to offer a new kind of futuristic experience. In keeping with the hotel’s principles, each seat in the new bar is installed with a tablet that displays a character called Aya-droid who takes customer orders. The bar serves six types of beer and original HTB cocktails. Once orders are placed, a special machine will pour drinks automatically into the customer’s cup. Payment can be done by credit card or using WeChat Pay via smartphone. In addition, remote staff are available to talk with customers through Aya-droid, with appropriate expressions and gestures reflected on the tablet screen. Source: Yomiuri Shimbun, 11/10/2017
