Fukuoka and Bordeaux, France, are sister cities. Inspired by the Medoc Marathon, a popular event in Bordeaux where participants run through vineyards while enjoying wine and wearing costumes, Fukuoka will host a Costume Relay Marathon. This fun marathon allows teams of 4 to 15 members to choose between completing 15 or 30 laps on an 800-meter course. After all 100 costumed teams gather for the opening ceremony, the relay begins, with each member required to run at least one lap. After the marathon, participants can enjoy Bordeaux wine at the after-party, where 1,000 bottles of wine will be served, along with food stalls.
