StarFlyer announced that a 24-year-old trainee pilot was arrested in January on suspicion of using stimulants and was dismissed effective January 27. The Kitakyushu-based airline said the trainee, hired in April 2025, operated seven supervised training flights between November and his arrest, including two passenger flights between Haneda and Kansai and between Haneda and Yamaguchi Ube airports. The company stated that standard pre-flight checks, including alcohol testing and visual assessments, detected no issues. StarFlyer apologized for the incident and said it would fully cooperate with investigators. Police have not disclosed further details, citing the ongoing investigation. Source: NHK / Yomiuri Shimbun
