JR Hakata City reported a slight year-on-year decline in total sales for fiscal 2025, with revenue reaching 148.5 billion yen, or 99.8 percent of the previous year. The figure covers eight commercial facilities, including Amu Plaza Hakata and Hakata Hankyu. Excluding the department store, seven facilities posted record sales of 82.8 billion yen, up 4 percent, supported by events, seasonal tourism, inbound demand, and the opening of a Nintendo store. In contrast, Hakata Hankyu recorded sales of 65.7 billion yen, down to 94.7 percent year-on-year, largely due to a drop in duty-free sales to 78 percent of the previous year. Lower spending on luxury goods also reduced average customer spending. Source: KBC News / Yomiuri Shimbun
