What comes next for tourism in Asia? Hotels, OTAs, transport operators, DMOs, investors, startups, and others involved in tourism and regional development will gather in Daimyo for an international conference exploring the future of travel. Asia New Travel Bootcamp (ANTB) comes to Fukuoka for the first time, bringing together perspectives from across Asia and Kyushu.
ANTB began in Okinawa in 2024 as a meeting place for Asia’s travel industry. Its 2025 event at OIST attracted 206 participants from eight countries, with 23 startups pitching to 129 tourism businesses and organizations. This year’s event is being held in collaboration with Colive Fukuoka, during a period when many international visitors are in the city.
The program opens with a keynote by Aleix Rodríguez Brunsoms, formerly of Skift and TUI. A following discussion will explore how values associated with Japan, including regional culture, spirituality, longevity, and ikigai, can be understood within the growing global well-being market. During the “Asia Tourism Pitch,” five startups will present tourism services and technologies aimed at the Japanese market.
Later in the afternoon, “FROM THE LOCAL” shifts the focus to Fukuoka and Kyushu. Practitioners working in tourism and community development will discuss what tourism that genuinely benefits a destination looks like from the perspective of local communities.
The program will be moderated by Daniel Cheng, founder of RTM Taiwan, Taiwan’s largest travel innovation community. Participants are expected to include representatives from ryokan and hotel groups, OTAs, transportation and infrastructure companies, DMOs, JETRO, venture capital firms, and entrepreneurs in tourism and well-being.
Sessions 01-03 will be conducted in English, while “FROM THE LOCAL” will be in Japanese. Real-time Japanese subtitles for the English sessions will appear on a second screen at the venue, with translation also available on participants’ own devices.
