Japan Post Eyes Marui as Tenant for New Bldg.
Sources say that Japan Post Group will tap Marui Group, the Tokyo-based fashion department store operator, as the primary tenant in a new commercial building to be built next to Hakata Post Office. The negotiations are in the final stages, and an official decision will be made sometime this month. Japan Post plans to redevelop the site next to Hakata Post Office by 2016, and if it can work out a deal with Marui, it will be the Marui’s first store in Kyushu. Marui’s mid-term management plan calls for new stores in Japan’s designated cities, so it had already been looking into opening a shop in either Hakata or Daimyo. Source: Nishinippon Shimbun, 10/2
