12th Sharing Market : Give, Take, and Share at Maizuru Park

Clothes that no longer fit, books already read and toys ready for a new home can all find another life at The Sharing Market #12. Returning to Maizuru Park on Oct 31, 2026, the free community event combines reuse with a relaxed day outdoors, plus kids’ shops, soccer lessons and Halloween trick-or-treating.

The idea is simple and practical. Visitors can bring clean, usable things they no longer need, leave them for someone else, and take home anything they can use. Clothes, shoes, books, games, toys, and art supplies are all welcome, and everything in the main sharing area is free. People are welcome to come mainly to give, or to take things and give them a new home.

For households with children, it is also a good reason to tackle the things that tend to pile up surprisingly quickly. A jacket outgrown over summer, a stack of picture books or toys that no longer get played with can all move on to someone who will use them. Contributions need to be clean and in good condition. Broken or dirty items, bedding, underwear and very large items are not accepted. Anything remaining after the event will be sorted for donation or recycling.

Children have their own part of the program too. Sharing Market Kids Shops run twice during the day, with children manning stands with games and holding workshops. The kids’ shops are a separate activity, while everything laid out in the main sharing market area is free to take.

Two Soccer Time sessions with Coach Ryuji add some movement to the day, one in the morning and another after lunch. Then, from 14:30 to 15:00, the focus turns to Halloween with a Trick-or-Treat session for children, followed by cleanup time from 15:00. Kids joining the Trick-or-Treat, don’t forget to bring a bag for your treats! Costumes are also very welcome!

The setting is Sannomaru Plaza, the open lawn in Maizuru Park near the BBQ area. There is plenty of room to browse, chat and let children move around while families come and go at their own pace. If it rains, the event will move to the Fukuoka University campus, so visitors should check the latest organizer information before setting out if the weather looks uncertain.

The event is organized by The Sharing Market, with the Fukuoka City Greenery Association and Maizuru Park Management Office as co-hosts. Fukuoka Now is proud to be among the many organizations supporting this edition of The Sharing Market. See you there!
Tips: Items should be washed or cleaned before being brought to the park, and only things in genuinely usable condition should be passed on. A reusable bag is useful for anything picked up on the day. If rain is forecast, visitors should check the organizer’s QR-linked updates before leaving, as the event will move to Fukuoka University.
