This fireworks festival has been held since the early 1900s and is one of the three biggest fireworks festivals in Fukuoka Prefecture! Watch 7,000 fireworks including “Starmine” and 250-meter wide “Niagara Falls” lit up from boats floating in the river. The sight of the colorful fireworks in the night sky reflecting on the waters and creating a fantastic image is definitely picture-worthy. To get to the venue by public transport, take the Kitakyushu City bus for Ashiya from JR Orio Sta., then take a 25-minute bus ride to Yamaga Yubinkyoku-mae bus stop (5-minute walk from there). If you’re travelling by car, it is a 40-minute car ride along Prefectural Road no. 27 from Kurate IC (Kyushu Expressway). Shuttle bus is also available from the free parking lot (¥100/ride).
