This film festival, launched in 1987 with the aim of discovering new and unknown talents, is organized and run by Fukuoka’s film enthusiasts on a volunteer basis. This year’s lineup includes four masterpieces by Hong Kong cinema legend Johnnie To, a three-hour documentary from China, and a selection of eight films from countries like South Korea, Syria, and Egypt. This special two-day event features Asian films with Japanese subtitles. Tickets are primarily sold through email reservations, so those interested should secure theirs early.
