BOOKUOKA’s annual outdoor secondhand book market moves from Keyaki-dori to Kyushu University’s Hakozaki Satellite this autumn. A highlight of the citywide book festival, the market offers a chance to browse used books and get to know Fukuoka’s booksellers and publishing scene in a new setting.
Launched in 2006 under the slogan “Making Fukuoka a City of Books,” BOOKUOKA brings together booksellers, publishers, editors, and secondhand book dealers from across the city. This year’s program runs from Oct 20 to Nov 20, 2026, with book talks and bookstore events at venues throughout Fukuoka.
The outdoor market takes place on Oct 31. Its move to Hakozaki gives returning visitors a fresh setting to explore, with opportunities to discover unfamiliar titles and meet the people behind the city’s book culture.
