A long-running touring event in the Chikugo area offers visitors a chance to experience Kurume Kasuri, a traditional woven textile with more than 200 years of history. Held across a region dotted with Kurume Kasuri workshops, the event includes open studio visits as well as sales of fabric, textile remnants, and handmade goods.
Set amid the rural landscapes of Chikugo, the venue area can be explored by free shuttle bus or rental bicycle, allowing visitors to tour the workshops at a relaxed pace. Guests can observe artisans at work while enjoying pop-up cafés, sweets stands, and hands-on workshops held throughout the area. On June 7 from 11:00, a Kurume Kasuri fashion show presented by Kurume University students will also take place at Kumano Shrine.
