Fukuoka’s fourth annual Fashion Week is coming up! The theme is “Shigekiteki!”, literally “Inspiring” but the kanji of the first “ki” plays on the Japanese word for “to wear” – thus this year’s theme is based on the idea that everyday clothing can be stimulating and inspiring. Approximately 130 shops and business are participating, mostly in Hakata and Tenjin (see the official site for full information). Throughout the week, the city will be fizzing with inspiring fashion-related events held by businesses and fashion students (both separately and in collaboration). Fukuoka-based T-shirt designer/creator POP●COPY (read as “poppo-copy”) is creating T-shirts for the event. On Mar. 19 and Mar. 20, the Fukuoka Street Party will take place – head to Kirameki-dori (2 Tenjin, Chuo-ku) to see live fashion shows and performances!
