Fukuoka City has a special connection with Bordeaux, the renowned wine-producing region in France, as they are sister cities. The annual Fukuoka Bordeaux Wine Festival, now in its sixth edition, aims to recreate the ambiance of the port city of Bordeaux by importing European stalls. During the festival, visitors can indulge in a selection of 114 Bordeaux wines, including red, white, rosé, and sparkling crémant, available by the glass. Wine prices start from ¥500 (cash basis). Additionally, wines from the five major chateaus in the Bordeaux region will be featured daily. To complement the wines, popular Fukuoka restaurants will be serving a variety of delectable offerings, such as hors d’oeuvres, steaks, sausages, and canelés, a traditional pastry from Bordeaux. The event will be held outdoors, creating a delightful early summer atmosphere enhanced by live music performances, including opera and classical music.
