The annual Sakura Festival is underway at Fukuoka Castle Ruins (Maizuru Park), one of Fukuoka’s most famous cherry blossom viewing spots, with approximately 1,000 cherry trees in bloom. The cherry blossoms, including someiyoshino cherry trees in full bloom and 19 varieties of weeping cherry trees, are beautiful enough to see during the daytime, but from 18:00 to 21:00, Korokan Hiroba will be lit up, and visitors can enjoy the fantastic scenery of the cherry trees reflected on the moat. A gourmet area will also be set up in Korokan Hiroba, with kitchen cars and other vendors selling food and beverages. Because of the Corona disaster, banquet activities and drinking in the park are prohibited, but drinking in this area is allowed during the event.
