Held to coincide with cherry blossom season, the Fukuoka Castle Sakura Festival begins this year on March 26. Located within walking distance from Tenjin, Maizuru Park is one of the city’s top cherry blossom spots, with around 1,000 trees across 19 varieties, including Somei Yoshino and weeping cherry trees. The blossoms are beautiful during the day, but the illuminated night view is a major highlight, attracting many visitors each year. During the festival, food stalls and kitchen cars will offer a range of food and drinks. A paid hanami area with BBQ facilities will also be available at Sannomaru Square. From 18:00 to 22:00, three areas—Sakura Garden, Tamon Turret, and Otakayashiki—will feature paid access (¥600 per area or ¥1,500 for a three-area pass) to enjoy illuminated cherry blossoms accompanied by music and lighting effects.
