Now in its fifth year, the Fukuoka DIY Renovation Week is organized by the NPO Fukuoka Building Stock Research Group. The event aims to promote the value of DIY (do-it-yourself) work and the satisfaction that comes with refurbishing properties that have aged or fallen into disrepair. Various events and workshops are scheduled to take place at locations throughout Fukuoka as well as Itoshima, Kurume, Omuta, Kumamoto and Kagoshima, including yatai (food stall) making (Nov. 7 & 8, 3 pm), balcony building (Nov. 9, 11 am), beer trolley cart painting (Nov. 9, 3 pm) and more. Join walking tours to interesting properties in Fukuoka, some of which are available for short stay accommodation (reservation required). There will also be a DIY renovation symposium in Omuta (Nov. 10, 3 pm, application required). Check the website for a full list of the events, schedule, and a map.
