Mt. Homan, located on the border of Dazaifu and Chikushino cities, is a popular climbing destination that draws around 100,000 visitors yearly. The mountain is home to Homangu Kamado Shrine, which enshrines revered deities for matchmaking and protection. Once called Mt. Mikasa and Mt. Kamado, the mountain has a long history of religious and cultural significance. Rituals began in the 7th century, and the site has been a focus of various Buddhist and Shinto practices over the years. This year, the mountain celebrates its 10th anniversary as a national historic site with a special exhibition titled “Full of Treasure Mountain.” For more details, see the official website.
