This summer’s afternoon tea at the Grand Hyatt features 19 savories and sweets made with ingredients from all over Kyushu.
The service begins with a refreshing non-alcoholic cocktail made with the highest quality gyokuro in Japan, Yame Traditional Hon Gyokuro, Japan’s top tea, for 20 consecutive years. Then it’s onto the nibbles! The four hot savories, including a rice burger with slices of Saga beef, a vegan burger with shiitake mushrooms, and yuzu kosho from Oita, Okinawan specialties such as “sata andagi” (doughnut), and purple sweet potato scones with caramelized Amami sucrose. The scones are served with five sauces, including Amami sucrose caramel jam, Amao strawberry jam, and clotted cream. You can enjoy the pseudo-experience of a summer trip to Kyushu with a hearty and satisfying afternoon tea, including Kagoshima’s famous shaved ice “Shirokuma” and Kumamoto’s watermelon and lychee jellies.
