Hakata Gion Yamakasa

Fukuoka’s most beloved festival, Yamakasa. From 7/1 you can see the decorative floats at 14 locations including Kushida Shrine and the neighborhoods of Hakata. The climax begins at 4:59am on 7/15 when thousands of loincloth-clad men race through the streets carrying heavy floats with shouts of “Oisa-oisa!”
