Haruyoshi’s narrow lanes, lined with independent restaurants and bars, come alive after dark. For this eight-day event, 57 venues in and around the neighborhood each offer a ¥700 “Hare-zake Set”: a 60 ml serving of sake from a Fukuoka Prefecture brewery, paired with a dish created to complement it.
The idea is “hashigo-zake”—hopping from one drinking spot to the next. Lanterns mark participating venues, making it easy to explore on foot. To take part, visitors must purchase a participation kit in advance, which includes an original sake cup, a stamp card, and a drawstring pouch.
The lineup spans Japanese cuisine, motsunabe, yakitori, Chinese and Italian food, and kakuuchi—liquor shops where customers can drink on the premises. It’s a chance to step into somewhere new, discover different ways to pair Fukuoka sake with food, and enjoy the neighborhood one stop at a time.
