The Ohana Estate is the former residence of the Tachibana, the feudal lords of Yanagawa. The site has approximately 300 years of history. Descendants of the Yanagawa feudal lords continue to look after the premises. Ohana collaborates with a lantern manufacturer called Ito Gonjiro Shoten on a yokai (Japanese spirits and entities) themed event. Ito Gonjiro Shoten has been producing traditional Yame-style lanterns for over 200 years. An exhibition of lanterns inspired by the Tachibana family’s collection of yokai picture scrolls will be displayed this July and August. Visitors can also view the picture scrolls inside the Tachibana Museum. During weekends and holidays (15:00 – 21:00), a night market selling all kinds of sweets will be set up in front of the Ohana Estate’s main gate.
