Surrounded by mountains and the sea, Itoshima has become a base for artists and craftspeople drawn to its natural beauty and relaxed lifestyle. Home to more than 100 studios and galleries, the area is widely recognized as one of Kyushu’s leading centers for contemporary craft. This annual autumn festival brings together the region’s makers for a weekend celebrating creativity, craftsmanship, and community.
The event features works by long-established local artisans as well as creators who have recently relocated to Itoshima. Visitors can browse and purchase ceramics, woodworking, leather goods, textiles, glass, metalwork, and more, while meeting the artists and learning about the inspiration and techniques behind their work.
In addition to the craft market, the festival offers hands-on workshops and a selection of food and sweets stalls hosted by popular local vendors, making it easy to enjoy both Itoshima’s thriving maker culture and its celebrated local food scene.
