As part of a traditional ceremony marking the start of the June Grand Kabuki performances at Hakataza Theater, Kabuki actors make their local debut by arriving on boats in a festive procession known as funanorikomi. This year, eight actors including Nakamura Kankuro and Nakamura Shichinosuke—both returning to Hakataza after seven years—will take part. Departing from Seiryu Park around 2:30 PM, the boat procession will move slowly down the Hakata River accompanied by festive music, Kabuki chants, falling confetti, and Hakata geisha. Spectators can enjoy the event from the riverbanks, waving and calling out to join in the celebration.
